CA-MBA Prime Advocacy Membership — Preview
Prime Advocacy Membership

Stand with small business. Not just source from it.

A membership for corporations, banks, utilities, public agencies, and foundations that want coordinated advocacy, education, and public-private alignment behind California's small business community, backed by an organized pipeline and a defined annual agenda.

What Members Fund

Four things every Prime Advocacy dollar builds

Advocacy infrastructure

Issue tracking, coalition alignment, testimony and letters, and rapid mobilization when small business needs a fast, organized response.

Business readiness

Helping small businesses show up prepared in policy and procurement conversations, not just invited to the room.

Regional convening

Elected officials, agencies, chambers, and business leaders aligned around outcomes that are actually practical.

Public accountability

Measurable reporting on advocacy actions and outcomes, so members can see exactly what their membership moved.

Launch Readiness

This launches once the pilot earns it

Prime Advocacy Memberships open after the pilot phase produces two things. CA-MBA is not asking anyone to fund a program that doesn't exist yet.

Launch Trigger
  1. A documented, organized pipeline of credible small businesses.
  2. A defined annual advocacy agenda: top issues, positions, and a calendar.

What This Actually Buys

Four things money alone can't get you elsewhere

Prime Advocacy isn't a sponsorship listing. It's standing inside a coalition that already has relationships small businesses trust.

  • Credible

    Credible advocacy

Organized positions, disciplined messaging, and consistent engagement, not one-off statements.

  • Intel

    Coalition intelligence

Visibility into what's moving, who's involved, and where the actual leverage points are.

  • Trust

    Community trust and legitimacy

Visible alignment with underserved business communities, backed by real outcomes rather than a logo placement.

  • Convening

    Convening power

Structured forums that turn issues into action instead of another panel discussion.

What CA-MBA Commits To

  • Quarterly Advocacy BriefingDelivered in writing, with an optional live briefing for members who want it.
  • Annual Advocacy AgendaTop issues, positions, calendar, and an escalation plan, published before the year starts.
  • Action Alerts ToolkitTalking points, templates, and clear instructions for how to participate.
  • Annual Outcomes ReportActions taken, wins, partnerships, and measurable results, reported back to every member.

Guardrails

Independence is the product. This is what keeps it credible.

  • CA-MBA stays mission-led and independent. Membership funds the work. It does not buy a policy position.
  • Member input runs through structured forums. Roundtables and strategy sessions, not backchannel asks. Final positions follow CA-MBA governance.
  • Advocacy actions and coalition partners are disclosed where appropriate, so members always know what they're associated with.
Next Step

Three things to confirm before this is enforceable

  • 01Your top 5–7 advocacy priorities for the year: the issues and the outcomes you want tied to your name.
  • 02What recognition is acceptable: logo use, speaking roles, and co-branding limits.
  • 03Whether you want a statewide membership or a regional one: LA, Inland Empire, OC, or Sacramento.
